FAQ
What to expect when I go to counselling at CASA?
CASA counsellors are experienced at understanding the impacts of trauma. We work towards creating an environment where you can feel safe to explore your traumatic experiences. Sexual assault is about power and control so we understand it is important that you have control over what you talk about in counselling.
What can I expect in the first session when I see a CASA counsellor?
CASA counsellors will provide you with written information about CASA services, including information about your rights as a CASA client, information about making a complaint, privacy and confidentiality information. We will explore with you goals for counselling.
What happens when my child goes to CASA?
Before counselling starts, CASA counsellors will meet with the child’s parents or carers to discuss concerns and gather information to assess how we can help your child. Counselling with children at CASA may include play therapy techniques, such as drawing, painting and sandplay. We aim to provide a safe environment where children can express the emotional effects of their trauma and reduce the impacts.
